Meet Mrs. Akbar
Nuzhat Akbar has been teaching people to drive for four years, first in Brampton and now all over Hamilton.
Some students pick her because they want a female instructor. They stay because she doesn't rush them. And she drives to you, so your lesson starts where you are.
see you on the road!
in their own words
Ask anyone she’s taught.
Every one of her 58 Hamilton reviews on Google is five stars. Her Brampton students (opens Google Maps) left 108 more before she moved.

good questions
Before your first lesson
Anything else? Call 416-457-5778.
How do I get my G1 licence?
Pass a vision test and the G1 knowledge test at a DriveTest centre, like Hamilton’s on Kenora Avenue. It’s walk-in, and the G1 package costs $159.75. The G1 test guide explains what to bring, and there’s a free G1 practice test to try first.
Do you teach complete beginners?
Yes. Lots of her students had never driven before their first lesson. You start with the basics and move on when you’re ready.
I get nervous behind the wheel. Is that okay?
Very okay. Lots of her reviews are from people who were nervous at first. She stays calm, explains each step and doesn’t rush you. There’s more on lessons for nervous drivers.
How much do driving lessons cost?
It depends on how many lessons you need, so call 416-457-5778 for a price. A few reviewers mention her rates are fair.
Which areas do you cover?
All of Hamilton, including Mount Hope, Hamilton Mountain, Downtown, East and West Hamilton, Westdale, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Binbrook and Glanbrook. Caledonia too. Somewhere close by? Ask.
Do I have to come to you for lessons?
No. She comes to you. Mrs. Akbar drives to her students, so your lesson starts where you are.
Why choose a female driving instructor?
Some students, and some parents, just feel more comfortable with a woman in the passenger seat. One of her reviewers picked her for exactly that reason.
Can you help me pass my G2 road test?
Yes. G2 road test preparation covers turns, lane changes, intersections, parallel parking and three-point turns, plus what examiners watch for. Plenty of her reviews are from people who passed their G2 on the first try.
Can I practise highway driving with a G1 licence?
Not on your own. G1 drivers can’t use 400-series highways like the 403 or the QEW, except with a certified driving instructor. So highway lessons are your chance to practise early.
Can I book a lesson right before my road test?
Sometimes. One student booked a one-hour lesson two hours before their test, and passed. Her schedule changes day to day, so call early.
Where is the road test in Hamilton?
At the Hamilton DriveTest centre, 370 Kenora Avenue North, in the east end. Test prep can include driving around there so it feels familiar on the day.
What should I bring to my first lesson?
Your G1 or G2 licence, and your glasses or contacts if you drive with them. Flat, comfortable shoes help.
